Yogurt Mask Two Ways with Red Wine and Cinnamon

Yogurt Mask Two Ways

Yogurt Mask Two Ways by bellinatse

The holidays have finally past us. As we catch up on sleep and let our bank accounts take a rest, let’s count our blessings shall we? Good food, good wine, and good company. Of course, the first two blessings can be recycled post-holiday season. Curious as to how? Read on, my friend…

Were you one of those party guests that brought something homemade to every festive get-together there was this past holiday season? I’m sure you baked up a storm. Don’t know what to do with all that left over dough and cinnamon? The dough would make for great cookies (or just cookie dough), and the cinnamon can be used with just one extra ingredient for the perfect eco-friendly DIY mask: yogurt. Cinnamon spice brings blood up to the surface of the skin when applied. This instantly plumps up our skin, providing a temporary filler for minor wrinkles and sagging. Cinnamon is also a great fixer for acne; the spice works its magic and dries those pimples up. Yogurt is the best base for a mask; its full of anti-bacterial properties that are great for soothing and moisturizing the skin and getting rid of redness and irritation. I prefer to use Greek yogurt, since it’s thicker in consistency, which prevents dripping when used in a facial mask. Mix a dollop of yogurt with a teaspoon of cinnamon, stir, and slather onto your complexion. Leave on for 15-20 minutes or until dry. Be warned. Rinsing off the mask may be messy; have paper towels prepared. And don’t wear your favorite shirt.

Still got some left over wine from the New Year’s Eve party? Don’t let that opened bottle of red go to waste. Mix in a tablespoon of red wine with a dollop of Greek yogurt. Bet you want to top your new alcoholic parfait with some berries and call it night, don’t you? But don’t go there (just yet). Red wine is filled with anti-oxidant and anti-aging properties; the perfect pick-me-up post holidays.

So weather you decide to whisk your yogurt with red wine or cinnamon this post-holiday week, one thing’s for sure. Your skin will thank you.

Happy new year my beauties. Here’s to a prettier, glowier new year.

P.S.

Always do a patch test on your wrist before applying a new DIY mask, or new skincare product, on your face.

Looooove these simple face mask recipes! I always forget how great yogurt is for the skin. I must pick some up next time I’m at the store.
